Throughout the year we offer special events for the community! Some of these events would not be made possible without the help of donations from area businesses and volunteers. Visit the events page often throughout the year for an updated list and/or check us out on Facebook!

 

 

 

Upcoming Events

SANTA LETTERS

Santa  sets up a mailbox at the Menominee Recreation Department! Children of any age are welcome to mail their letters to Santa in care of the Recreation Department and Santa will mail a reply.

​

 The mailbox opens on November 15th and letters must be received by December 15th, 2023 in order to give Santa plenty of time to respond. 

The program is free, but please include a self-addressed stamped envelope along with your letter!

HOLIDAY COLORING CONTEST

WINTER HOLIDAYS COLORING CONTEST

​

The Menominee Recreation Department is holds  their  Annual “Happy Holidays” coloring contest in November and December!  The contest is open for boys and girls in grades K-4. Entries will be judged according to grade level. 

 Coloring pages may be submitted by mail or dropped off to the 24 hour drop box in front of the recreation Office! Contest is currently open and entries are being accepted until December 18th!

Elf Scavenger Hunt

John Henes Park is know for its beautiful water views, (insert Beach House, picnic area) but did you know it’s also the only City-owned park with 8 elves hanging out?! If you want to enjoy a free family-friendly holiday event, head over to John Henes Park between now – December 20 for the Elf Scavenger Hunt!

 Completed scavenger hunt answer sheets may be submitted by mail to Recreation Department 2515 10th St, Menominee, MI 49858 or dropped off to the drop box located to the right of the recreation office door. All entries  submitted by December 20th, will be entered into a raffle drawing for a holiday prize!

ICE SKATING FUN

Ice Skating Fun

 

Looking for some Winter Fun? The Duby Park Ice Rink, will open for the 2023 winter season when weather permits.

 

When Open, the Ice Rink is free to use and anyone can use the rink Monday – Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Past Events

PUMPKIN PATCH 

Pumpkin Patch
 
The 2023 Annual Pumpkin Patch Event  took place Saturday, October 21st.  The Pumpkin Patch is a free event for children ages 4-10 and their families. This year, children enjoyed games, facepainting, snacks and a showing of Hotel Transylvania at the Bandshell. In other years, children enjoyed free wagon rides around Henes Park; free bounce houses and more. This Halloween  event is free of charge thanks to the outpouring of support and donations from area businesses.




 

FAMILY FUN NIGHT

Family Fun Night will be held at Great Lakes Memorial Marina Park on July 17th, 2024. Event stars at 6PM until 8PM.

Family Fun Night is a FREE event for families that consists of: games, prizes, bounce houses, crafts, face painting, photo booth, Touch-a-Truck, music, and much more!

4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS CELEBRATION

The Menominee Recreation Department staff would like to wish everyone a safe, healthy July 4 Holiday.

TOM PEASE CHILDREN'S CONCERT

​

 

 Tom Pease, a children's folk singer, entertains you with song and laughter. Children and adults alike won't want to miss the opportunity to see the talents Tom Pease in concert!!

Join us on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at the 2nd pavilion John Henes Park, concert begins at 11:00 a.m.

Bring lawn chairs, blankets and sit back to enjoy an awesome concert!

EASTER EGG HUNT

Easter Egg Hunt -  Ages 3-10
 

 

The annual Easter Egg Hunt will held on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at John Henes Park. Pre-registration is required and begins on Monday, February 26 - March 18, 2024. Please email parksandrec@menomineemi.gov with child name/age/phone number and the desired time slot. Space is limited. Time slots are: 9:30-10:15am, 10:30-11:15am, or 11:30-12:15PM

 This FREE family-fun event is made possible thanks to the generous donations of local businesses. This year's sponsors are: Culver's, New UP Dental, Miller's Office Supply.

Tell us why "your Mother is the Best in the world!" In 100 words or less, tell us why your mom, grandma, sister, aunt or female role model is so special to you. Hand-written or typed we accept them all. Include hand drawn pictures or photos to show that extra special reason why they are so great.

The 2024 Contest will accept Entries between April 26 - May 8, 2024.

Essays may be mailed to or dropped off at the Recreation Department (2511 10th St.) (either in person or by using the drop box located next to our door)

Please include name, grade, phone number, and address.
