Throughout the year we offer special events for the community! Some of these events would not be made possible without the help of donations from area businesses and volunteers. Visit the events page often throughout the year for an updated list and/or check us out on Facebook!

EASTER EGG HUNT

Easter Egg Hunt
 

 

The Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at John Henes Park. The festivities begin at 10AM SHARP at the 3rd pavilion, with a self-guided book walk, provided by Spies Public Library; and continue with families participating in the egg hunt, scavenger hunt, games, coloring contest, and more.  

 This event is FREE OF CHARGE thanks to the generous donations of local businesses. This year's sponsors are: Herrild Technologies, Culver's, New UP Dental, Miller's Office Supply and Perkins.

Pre-Registration is required. Please email: parksandrec@menomineemi.gov with child name, age and contact phone number. Deadline to register is Monday,     April 3rd. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mother's Day Essay Contest

Mother's Day Essay Contest

 

Tell us why "your Mother is the Best in the world!" In 100 words or less, tell us why your mom, grandma, sister, aunt or female role model is so special to you. Hand-written or typed we accept them all. Include hand drawn pictures or photos to show that extra special reason why they are so great.

Contest Starts Monday, April 3rd and ends Monday, May 8th. Entries can either be mailed to the Recreation Department 2511 10th Street or drop off in the drop box located outside the office. 

Winners will be notified by phone on Wednesday, May 10th.

Tell us why “your dad is the best in the world”! In 100 words or less, tell us why your dad is so special to you.

Maybe you have a wonderful uncle, brother or grandfather that is the best in the world. Tell us about them instead! Hand written or typed we accept them all. Include hand drawn pictures or photos to show that extra special reason why they are so great!

Essays may be mailed to or dropped off at the Recreation Department (2511 10th St.) (either in person or by using the drop box located next to our door) by Monday, June 12th .

Please include name, grade, phone number, and address. Winners will be notified by phone by Wednesday, June 14th. For more information, call (906) 863-1737.

4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS CELEBRATION

The Menominee Recreation Department staff would like to wish everyone a safe, healthy July 4 Holiday. 
Event details not available at this time.

FAMILY FUN NIGHT

Family Fun Night will be held at Great Lakes Memorial Marina Park on July 19th, 2023. Starts at 6PM until 8PM.

Family Fun Night is a FREE event for families that consists of: games, prizes, bounce houses, crafts, face painting, photo booth, Touch-a-Truck, music, and much more! 

More event details will be provided at a later date. 

TOM PEASE CHILDREN'S CONCERT

 

 Tom Pease, a children's folk singer, entertains you with song and laughter. Children and adults alike won't want to miss the opportunity to see the talents Tom Pease in concert!!

Join us on Thursday, July 20th at the 2nd pavilion concert begins at 11:00 a.m.

Bring lawn chairs, blankets and sit back to enjoy an awesome concert!

PUMPKIN PATCH 

Pumpkin Patch
 
The 2019 Annual Pumpkin Patch Event  took place Saturday, October 26, 2019. The Pumpkin Patch is a fun day for children ages 4-10. Children enjoyed free wagon rides around Henes Park; free bounce house and more. This Halloween  event is free of charge thanks to the outpouring of support and donations from area businesses.

The 2020 Pumpkin Patch event was moved to 2021, and was a drive-thru craft day.


 

SANTA LETTERS

Santa  sets up a mailbox at the Menominee Recreation Department! Children of any age are welcome to mail their letters to Santa in care of the Recreation Department and Santa will mail a reply.

 The mailbox opens on November 15th and letters must be received by Monday, December 13th in order to give Santa plenty of time to respond. 

The program is free, but please include a self-addressed stamped envelope along with your letter!

HOLIDAY COLORING CONTEST

 

 

WINTER HOLIDAYS COLORING CONTEST

The Menominee Recreation Department is holds  their  Annual “Happy Holidays” coloring contest in November and December!  The contest is open for boys and girls in grades K-4. Entries will be judged according to grade level. 

 Coloring pages may be submitted by mail or dropped off  to the 24 hour drop box at City Hall: Attn: Recreation Dept when the contest is open!

Reindeer Round-Up Scavenger Hunt

Oh Deer! With the exception of Rudolph, all of Santa's Reindeer have decided to take a vacation before the big night! However, Santa needs them back at the North Pole for Pre-flight Checks!!! Can you Help Santa & Rudolph find the Rest of the team before December 18th?

 

All eight of the  missing Reindeer are currently enjoying their time in Henes Park!  Each one has their name and the number of the order that Santa and Rudolph Found them in! 

Turn in a Paper, and Email or a Facebook Message with the Correct Order of the Reindeer and be entered to Win a Very Merry Surprise!

ICE SKATING FUN

Ice Skating Fun

 

Looking for some Winter Fun? The Duby Park Ice Rink, will open for the 2022 winter season when weather permits.

 

When Open, the Ice Rink is free to use and anyone can use the rink Monday – Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

 

WATERFRONT FESTIVAL CHILDREN'S ACTIVITIES

Waterfront Festival Children's Activities 
 
The Waterfront Festival is a great way to end the summer season before heading back to school. Not only does the festival provide great food, music, and games, but is also provides free activities and entertainers for children!
